Gold is one of the oldest minerals in the world to be used commercially. At any early stage in human history, we discovered that gold was malleable, durable, and lustrous. These qualities made it highly prized amongst early societies who used gold mainly as a decorative metal.
Gold would eventually evolve to become very previous because it would be used as the first true international currency. It was used in jewelry and other decorative purposes too. Across stretches of thousands of years, gold has always remained extremely valuable to societies, wherever they were located.
Today, gold is not used as a currency, but it is still a constant in the jewelry industry. More importantly, it is still one of the main ways that investors guard their wealth against inflation or unstable economies. Gold is a part of many investors’ portfolios these days, and for good reason. Many people are still bullish on the prospects of gold and believer it could yet rise to a higher price.

Being able to attend one of the most prestigious universities in Oceania was helpful to Richard Shemesian’s career. He graduated from the Business and Law Colleges at the University of Western Australia. With those degrees in hand, Richard Shemesian has been able to do much more than he would have been able to otherwise.
One of the oldest and most consistently used currencies all across history is gold. It was used as a currency because gold is malleable and has a brilliant luster. Beyond its decorative purposes, gold had now taken on a commercial purpose too.
Gold is an investment that millions of people include in their portfolio. Some invest mainly in gold, some simply scatter gold into their diverse assets. While there are many investment strategies regarding gold, one thing is for sure–it is still quite popular.
Gold is a popular investment today because it protects investors from falling currencies and economic recessions. The amount of protection is provides helps to make up for the fact that it does not provide dividends or skyrocket in value, though certainly gold has risen in value considerably in recent years.
Decorations and Currency–How Gold Became A Good Investment

As a graduate of the University of Western Australia, Richard Shemesian has benefited from a top notch education. Indeed, he attended one of the most prestigious universities in Australia. He received degrees from the University of Western Australia’s venerated Business and Law Schools.
Gold was first used as a decorative metal. One would most often find gold being used as a metal to make necklaces, statues, and rings. This is still a fairly common usage, but there was a very long period of time during which gold was used as a currency. It was used as a currency because it was virtually guaranteed that gold was not going to inflate and lose value, barring some massive influx of gold into the market—which rarely, if ever, happened.
The importance of gold today largely follows those same lines. In modern times, gold is still used for rings and necklaces, but it is also used as a protective asset against inflation and economic downturns. Gold is a hedge against any sort of dollar depreciation because as the local currency declines, gold will gain in value.
This does not mean gold can not also turn a profit. Many people are bullish on the gold market, despite it’s significant gains in recent months.

The recent economic recession has many people worried about their investments. The volatility of the stock market has destroyed so much wealth and led many people to pull out of investments altogether. This is an understandable impulse, but probably not the right one.
Many people never even consider the option of investing in gold. This is because few brokers or professional investors discuss it openly. Gold is generally considered a protective investment. This means that gold is used as a hedge against collapsing stock markets or falling currencies.
Gold does, however, have opportunities for growth right now. That is why so many people are bullish on the gold market right now, they believe there is profit to be made by purchasing gold. If gold climbs higher, they will have been correct. If it goes lower, one still have a protective investment.
